Popular artist and author Rap Chan, better known as Dusty Papa, hosted a pop-up exhibition in December in Central Hong Kong promoting mental health.

The theme of the exhibition was “Don’t forget the tenderness in your heart” and it used Dustykid’s distinctive designs to remind viewers that despite social instability and the impact of COVID-19, nothing is more important than the kindness in our hearts.

Rap Chan, who was born and raised in Hong Kong, has been gaining worldwide attention with his daily Dustykid relatable cartoons on Facebook and Instagram. He has published more than 40 soul caring books and was named ‘Author of the 2020 HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair’.

Speaking about the pop up, Rap Chan said: “We decided to do the exhibition because we felt it was a good time to get our message out there. We want to tell people that despite everything that is going on in the world at the moment we should always keep tenderness in our hearts.

“I started Dustykid to spread positive messages about mental health and the importance of being kind to others.”

In 2020, he founded Dustykid Creative House aiming to create books targeting a wider age range of readers. They have launched a number flashcards and storybooks aiming to help children develop a healthy body and mind.

Franck Vonachen, Country Manager at Storefront, said: “We were so pleased to be able to find a good location for Dustykid. We’re huge fans of his work and the positive message he is sending.”

Rap Chan said: “The space was perfect for what we needed.

“Working with Storefront was super easy. People in Storefront were helpful and cheerful, they wished to help rather than just closing the deal. Language wasn’t a barrier at all, they listened to our needs carefully and helped us to locate the right place for us. That’s why we found them to help again.”
