Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2016\/09\/07\/oui-open-merges-with-storefront-to-become-a-global-pop-up-store-marketplace\/?sr_share=facebook\">Techcrunch<\/a> broke the news of their union. Both the original co-founders of Storefront in the United States, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/author\/tristan-pollock2\">Tristan Pollock<\/a> and&nbsp;Erik Eliason, and the co-founders of Oui Open, Mohamed Haouache and Adrien Kerbrat, identified the same need for flexibility and efficiency&nbsp;with regards to real estate in the retail industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>We launched Oui Open\u00a0out of frustration<\/em>,&#8221; says Mr.Haouache,\u00a0who now takes\u00a0the reigns as the CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestorefront.com\/\">Storefront<\/a>.\u00a0Haouache was in <a href=\"\/search\/new-york\">New York<\/a> during the financial crisis trying to launch a business but couldn&#8217;t find short-term retail space at a reasonable price. There was an abundance of empty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestorefront.com\/project\/retail-space-for-rent\">retail spaces<\/a>, and plenty of innovative brands ready to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestorefront.com\/project\/pop-up-store-rental\">launch Pop-Up<\/a> Stores and events, and yet, they were at an impasse. So he decided to start a site that matched retailers with landlords for short-term rentals in the fashion capital, his native Paris. Pollock and Eliason were working in e-commerce prior to 2012 and saw an increasing number of online brands turning to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestorefront.com\/mag\/10-best-tips-offline-retail-campaign-ideas\/\">offline retail<\/a>, and friends who were designers and artists encountering difficulty to launch Pop-Ups. Pollock says, \u201c<em>One friend in particular talked to 20 commercial real estate brokers, 10 insurance providers, and didn\u2019t get a the lease length or price they wanted.
