Nolita is a run of narrow tenement shopfronts with constant turnover. NoHo is a handful of protected blocks of large loft buildings where very little comes free. If your requirement is a small room you can fill quickly, Nolita is the answer. If it is a large floor you intend to make an event of, NoHo is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bowery is the odd one out. That forces a tightly edited range and rules out anything needing depth. It is only a handful of blocks, so very few ground-floor units come available at any time, and the ones that do are large. It is a scarcity market rather than a choice of options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is also an address purchase.<\/strong> NoHo carries a fraction of SoHo&#8217;s footfall at a similar rent level, and it is quiet enough that a unit has to generate its own reason for someone to walk to it. Nobody stumbles into a NoHo pop-up. That is a problem for a shop and an advantage for a presentation nobody should stumble into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bond_Street_and_Great_Jones_Street\"><\/span>Bond Street and Great Jones Street<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NoHo&#8217;s protected cast-iron blocks, and where the large, high-specification ground floors are. Several are landmarked. These are the spaces brands take when the room itself is part of the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lafayette_Street\"><\/span>Lafayette Street<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Runs south through NoHo into SoHo and holds a run of design-led independent stores in wide former warehouse frontages. It is noticeably quieter than Broadway a block west, which is the trade brands make when they choose it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole area sits inside the <a href=\"https:\/\/zr.planning.nyc.gov\/article-xiv\/chapter-3\">Special SoHo-NoHo Mixed Use District<\/a>, adopted in 2021 over roughly 56 blocks. It widened the range of commercial uses permitted in the two neighborhoods and set ground floor frontage rules on designated streets, with the explicit aim of supporting their arts, cultural and live-work role alongside retail. NoHo is also covered by the NoHo Historic District, which protects the cast-iron and loft architecture and brings the same review of exterior work that applies in SoHo. The width that makes the avenue workable for loading is the same width that makes it less pleasant to walk, so footfall passes rather than browses. The street also changes block by block: it now carries hotels, a contemporary art museum and design-led retail alongside the remaining supply businesses, so a description of one stretch will not hold for another.
