Performance menswear brand Ministry of Supply launched a short-term pop-up shop on Lexington Avenue in New York City as part of its expansion into the market.
The temporary retail space at 501 Lexington Ave, New York, NY was secured through Storefront and operated as a multi-day activation designed to introduce customers to the brand’s performance-professional apparel in a dedicated setting.
The pop-up preceded the brand’s permanent SoHo store on Wooster Street, serving as an early physical touchpoint in New York.

Bringing “Ministry of Supply Labs” to Midtown
The activation brought Ministry of Supply’s “Labs” concept to Midtown Manhattan, creating an interactive retail environment where visitors could explore the brand’s latest innovations in menswear.
Guests were invited to:
- Discover performance-focused apparel
- Explore products including the APOLLO dress shirt, ATLAS socks, and AVIATOR chinos
- Try on new Ministry of Supply gear
- Meet members of the team
- Take a break in-store with classic films and seasonal drinks
Rather than functioning purely as a sales space, the pop-up was designed as an experience — blending product discovery, brand storytelling, and community engagement.

Incentives to Encourage Visits
To drive traffic during its limited run, the pop-up featured daily incentives. The first 100 customers each day received a complimentary item, encouraging early visits and generating momentum.
Visitors also received a complimentary pair of Atlas socks, offering a direct introduction to one of the brand’s core performance products.
Short-term incentives paired with a clearly defined activation window helped focus demand and maximise engagement during the pop-up.
Testing the New York Market Through Temporary Retail
The Lexington Avenue pop-up allowed Ministry of Supply to establish a presence in New York before opening a permanent store.
By activating in Midtown, the brand gained exposure to office professionals and commuter traffic aligned with its target audience. The temporary format provided flexibility to:
- Introduce the brand to a new market
- Engage directly with customers
- Build awareness ahead of longer-term retail plans
Pop-ups often serve as strategic entry points into major retail cities, allowing brands to validate demand and connect with local audiences in a focused, time-bound way.
