Pop-Up Store Opening: Token Surfboards

Surf-wear has risen in popularity in the last couple of years in New York. Saturdays NYC and Mollusk Surf Shop are the brands leading the way in this fashion trend. Token Surfboards, a brand from Brooklyn seems to have found its own niche in this ever-changing market.

This indie brand draws inspiration from the surfing and skating scene, music and art of the 90s: with a gamut of references from Prince to Black Flag. Its latest collection eschews stereotypical surf style. Instead, it offers up 70s-inspired glen-plaid suits and a selection of graphic t-shirts.

Its week long Pop-Up Store opened with a party headlined by Onyx Collective yesterday and is open to the public till 19th July. The part showroom, part exhibition and part retail space on a trendy stretch of Chinatown’s Ludlow Street.
