British menswear brand Sir Plus used a pop-up in Le Marais to introduce its sustainable tailoring and utility-inspired staples to the Paris market.
Founded in London and known for crafting contemporary menswear from surplus fabrics, Sir Plus has built its reputation on quality, sustainability and personal customer relationships. The Paris activation marked the brand’s first standalone store outside the UK — a deliberate step toward international growth.

Expanding Through Face-to-Face Retail
Sir Plus has long attributed its growth to personal interaction. As Reiss Smith, Content Manager at Sir Plus, explains:
“Meeting people face to face, getting to know our customers and spreading through word of mouth” has been central to the brand’s expansion.
The Le Marais pop-up allowed the team to replicate this approach in France. The intimate size of the space encouraged conversation rather than passive browsing. As Smith noted, the store was “quite cozy and nice… with every person that comes in you can have a conversation with them.”
That hands-on model reflects a broader trend in luxury menswear pop-up strategy: service and storytelling often matter more than scale.

A Minimal Space That Let the Product Lead
“The Paris pop-up was deliberately sparse,” Smith explained, designed with a “minimal and industrial feel” so that the garments could take center stage.
Rather than over-designing the environment, Sir Plus focused on craftsmanship, fabric quality and fit. The understated interior reinforced the brand’s sustainable ethos and contemporary aesthetic.
Le Marais — known for its fashion credibility and discerning clientele — offered the right balance of visibility and neighborhood character for a premium menswear pop-up store.

Why the Strategy Worked
By launching a short-term activation in Paris, Sir Plus was able to:
- Test demand in a new market
- Build direct relationships with French customers
- Increase visibility during peak retail season
- Strengthen its international brand presence
For sustainable and independent menswear brands, pop-ups provide a lower-risk path to international expansion while preserving a personal retail experience.
